The program was based upon the increased forecast for manufacturing and laboratory outsourcing volume. The new facility design provided for an increase and industry shift to potent compounds and also increased capacity by 50%. The new processing facility is used for high-energy milling of bulk API substances and incipient materials intended for API formulations. The facility had to be highly flexible and suitable for handling a mixture of potent/non-potent materials in a safe working environment for operators and support personnel. Various technologies were investigated to ensure operator safety, process efficiency and financial viability. The project included raw material and finished goods warehouse, CGMP processing suites, QA/QC Laboratories, office space, common areas and central plant utility mechanical rooms. The labs support both manufacturing operations and contract testing.
