To design and build a greenfield state-of-the-art manufacturing and process research complex. With a commitment to efficiency, sustainability and aesthetics, the complex integrates Drug Substances (APIs), Drug Product (OSD) manufacturing and API process research functions into one site. The Centre supports Eisai’s global logistic infrastructure and supports API manufacturing operations in Japan.

14 buildings focused on research, manufacturing, critical utilities and support functions. Drug Product Facility has an annual capacity of 1B tablets, and Drug Substance facility has the capacity for 30 tons. The complex will supply products to the US and other global markets.

• Integration of API research, OSD manufacturing platform and critical utilities into one, 50-acre complex.
• Construction activities for all 14 facilities were simultaneous and in parallel. The entire project was handled by one project team.
• Integrated operations for all technical buildings, including a state-of-the-art fiber optics-based communication link enabling data integration between operations.
• Unique complex covers “full product cycle” - research to formulation - and all technical buildings are integrated from business and production standpoint. Drug Substance facility produces entire API requirement for the Drug Product facility. The production capacities, operating schedules, storage capacities, etc. of the Drug Substance facility are matched and integrated with the production capacities of the Drug Product facility.
• For new molecules, the Process/Kilo Labs and Pilot Plant were designed and integrated to operate as development modules. New molecules will be produced as API to ultimately supply it for OSD production in the Drug Product Facility.
