New vaccines are being considering for filling in Marietta each quarter, and warehouse capacity to receive, test and ship these products are being dynamically analyzed and modified constantly. The MA05 three-phase project was initiated to assess the requirements for additional ambient, frozen and cold storage inclusive of opportunities to expand existing structures as needed. IPS worked with the GSK Bio Engineering and Warehouse teams locally and internationally to develop layout options, the basis of design, detailed design and construction support. Bulk storage for at -25°C, -45°C and -70°C were added as well as facilities to support labeling,QA testing, shipping/receiving, and warehouse circulation. A new
emergency generator was installed to provide back-up to the new storage facilities.
- Project had to be GMP-compliant and implement GSK bio global design standards
- Existing warehouse remained fully operational through all phases of the expansion with minimal impact to operations
