mAbs Facility
Challenge from the Client
This project’s scope was to design a new facility to be constructed adjacent to existing operations on a compact site. The new manufacturing suites support the existing business case for a significant manufacturing building expansion, in collaboration with the NRC IRAP program of the Canadian Federal government, to be capable of processing Biosafety Level 2 organisms within the facility in accordance with Canadian Biosafety Standards.
Our Approach & Solution
Our team of experts developed manufacturing capabilities that consist of four upstream suites, two downstream suites, and two formulation suites for MCC Manufacturing. One MCC upstream suite is designed to a BSL2 containment level and includes additional equipment for insect cell manufacturing. Additional manufacturing capacity will consist of two DNA Processing suites, mRNA processing suites, and two Drug product Formulation suites for mRNA manufacturing.
Utilizing BIM technology, our team communicated and coordinated our ideas and concepts for the building clearly and quickly with a truly integrated delivery model.
The Results
The Knowledge, Skill, and Passion of all our project team went into making one of Canada’s largest manufacturing sites a reality. We applied first-class design tools and industry-specific experiences to develop a compliant manufacturing concept within an efficient building layout. The facility process capability, energy performance, and appearance on the site were essential project goals.
