What’s the best part of your job?
Project Controls is constantly advancing. Learning new software and methodologies and applying them in my role is continually challenging and exciting. The use of data visualization and PowerBI for reporting has been a really exciting tool to use. I enjoy showing clients what it can do and incorporating it into the project.
What do you believe is the biggest misconception about working in construction?
The biggest misconception is that all roles in construction require you to be an Engineer, Architect, or Project Manager. There are other roles outside of those that are unique opportunities. Project Controls, Scheduling, and Document Controls are valuable roles that help the project be successful.
What are some ways to be an ally or advocate for women in construction?
Mentorship is key. I’m very grateful when I have the opportunity to help women who are just starting their careers. Being able to provide advice and a different perspective helps build confidence in the mentee. Seeing someone succeed is incredibly rewarding.
