What motivated you to want to become an engineer?
As a child, I was always interested in creating and designing. I loved (and still love) learning about the history of technology and how inventions were originally fabricated. More specifically, as it relates to MEP design, watching my family home get built from the ground up really triggered my interest in design and construction.
How do you as an engineer, reimagine the possible?
I think outside of the box!
Any new technology in your field that you are excited about?
I’m most excited to see the advancements in rainwater collection systems and water usage-efficiency, especially as we lean towards Green design.
How do you think engineers make a difference in the world?
We contribute to the improvement and functionality of things we touch, see, and utilize daily. Being able to meet the needs of others – whether that’s through designing a working system for a building or fabricating a device that can save lives – is an amazing feat.
Can you please share advice that you have for anyone that is considering a career in engineering?
Always be willing to listen, learn, and teach. There’s always something new to learn in this ever-growing industry, so listening and learning will always be vital. On the other hand, don’t be afraid to teach and share the knowledge you’ve obtained.
