GMP Mammalian Cell Culture Bioproduction Facility

The project objective was to deliver a novel, first-of-its-kind 75,000sf biopharmaceutical facility within the city limits, and the first private development in the historic Philadelphia Naval Yard for AppTec, an emerging biopharmaceutical firm. IPS provided EPCMV services.

The  cGMP facility included  multi-product manufacturing systems such as (5) cell bank suites, (5) seed banks, (3) inoculum prep suites, (5) cell manufacturing suites equipped with (9) various-sized  bioreactors ranging from bench top to 2500L wv, automated TFF/chromatography systems and GMP autoclave and parts washer. Downstream areas were designed with flexibility to process a range of throughput as well as several different types of purification sequences. Class 10,000 and Class 100,000 clean rooms within manufacturing; Class 100 Laminar Flow Hoods in both the manufacturing, cell prep and laboratory areas. In addition, IPS engineered and constructed utilities, HVAC, fire protection, electrical and fire alarm systems.   100% union labor utilized on this project.
